Seinfeld Star Bill Erwin Dead at 96

Actor Bill Erwin (William Lindsey “Bill” Erwin) passed away at the ripe age of 96 at his home in Studio City California on December 29th.

Bill was an iconic American television, film, and stage actor with over 250 television and film credits.  He was most famously known for his role of Sid Fields, an embittered, irascible man on Seinfeld and received an Emmy nomination for it.   He also had regular appearances in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Irwin was a self-taught cartoonist, published in the New Yorker, Playboy and Los Angeles.  He won a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, four Drama-Logue Awards, Gilmore Brown Award for Career Achievement, Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters’ Diamond Circle Award, and Distinguished Alumnus Award from Angelo State University.
