Robert Pattinson may be an A-list actor, but that doesn’t mean his off-screen self is suave and classy. No offense, but he’s more of an old baseball cap, dingy flannel shirt kind of guy! It’s an okay look for him, and he cleans up well! But it isn’t just his style that is refreshingly common–Rob has dreams of quitting Hollywood to open up a traditional English pub! Rob opened up to Yahoo OMG about his visions.
“I would love to own a pub in London at some point,” he confessed. “I wouldn’t want to buy a pub that was all trendy and done Gastro style food, I just want a real working men’s pub. I probably wouldn’t even go public that I owned it; I wouldn’t want it to become the sort of place people went to spot celebrities. I just want it to be a real pub where men discuss the issues of the day.”
It may not seem thrilling, but Rob sees a real need for a down to earth, simple pub. It’s one part nostalgia, and one part selfish desire for a nice pub to call home. “Every time I am back home and see that a local pub has closed down it actually makes me sad. The local can be the focal point of the community, and if we lose them we lose one of the things that is greatest about Britain. Men putting the world to rights over a few pints puts the Great into Great Britain; we have to fight to keep that.”
Although the history major in me is trying to remember when great peace treaties have been written in common bars, I’m sure it’s happened! Would you hunt out Rob’s pub if ever he opened it, or should he stick to Kristen Stewart and acting?
