Scarlett Johansson was named Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire Magazine in 2006, and she has once again landed the title in 2013. This makes her the only person to have landed two SMA titles from Esquire, and it’s hard to argue with that – especially on a purely aesthetic level.
Anyway, the interview is obviously no-holds-barred, considering the prestigious title and honor. Scarlett discussed everything from her engagement to Romain Dauriac, her marriage to ex-husband Ryan Reynolds, and her feelings on jealousy. Till date, we don’t really know what happened between Ryan and Scarlett, and they have both been very quiet about it. Ryan’s happily moved on and married to Blake Lively, and Scarlett is now happily engaged.
But when she discusses her history of relationships and her feelings on jealousy, she hints at the reason she and Ryan broke up. She says, “I didn’t think I was a jealous person until I started dating my current, my one-and-only. I think maybe in the past I didn’t have the same kind of investment. Not that I liked my partner less, I just wasn’t capable of it or caring that much.”
So basically, she didn’t care about Ryan? She wasn’t ‘invested’ in Ryan? Sure, she was very young – but they got married, and there had to be a reason for that, right? You don’t just get married to someone if you don’t care about them enough. I have a feeling that Ryan’s and Scarlett’s marriage was based on passion and sex, and once that withered away, they were left with different ideas about their future together. But for Scarlett to say she wasn’t ‘invested’ is a burn. Poor Ryan. His career is in the proverbial shithole while Scarlett’s has skyrocketed.
