‘Point Break’ Reboot Is On The Way

What’s with Hollywood redoing Patrick Swayze’s classic movies? They already announced that they are rebooting Dirty Dancing and now there is a reboot of Kathryn Bigelow‘s action flick, Point Break underway. Can you say, GAG ME?!

Kurt Wimmer wrote the screenplay and the project is moving forward. The press release read:

“The new version is set in the world of international extreme sports,and like the original involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring, but plot points beyond that have not been revealed by the filmmakers.”

This to me is a really big disappointment. I think that some things in Hollywood should be held sacred and left alone. It seems like someone’s lost their creativity and therefore have to go out and make a mockery of something that was held high as a classic film.

It’s time for another Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy trailer. It opens on November 18th….. which… um, is odd…. who wants to compete with Breaking Dawn Part 1?!

Anyhow, here’s the scoop:

Based on John Le Carre’s seminal cold war best-seller, the movie is set in the aftermath of the cold war and tells the tale of a spy-hunt within the highest echelons of the British Secret Intelligence Service.

So tell us, will you be seeing this one or Breaking Dawn Part 1?

Charlize Theron: ‘Young Adult’ Poster

One of my fave girls has a new flick coming out! Charlize Theron is starring in a drama/comedy, Young Adult and I can hardly wait to see the first trailer! We’ve got the first photo and poster…. so the trailer won’t be far behind.

Here’s the scoop:

Academy Award winner Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either.

Stay tuned for the official trailer for Young Adult! It is scheduled for a limited release on December 9th!

Star Studded ‘The Big Year’ Trailer Has Arrived

Steve Martin, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Rashida Jones, Angelica Huston, Jim Parsons, Rosamund Pike, JoBeth Williams, Brian Dennehy, Dianne Wiest, Anthony Anderson, Tim Blake Nelson, Kevin Pollak, and Joel McHale ALL star in the upcoming comedy, The Big Year. With this cast, what’s not to love, right?

Based on Mark Obmascik’s 1998 book “The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obsession,” the film is about three men who try to outdo each other in a bird-watching competition to spot the rarest birds in North America. The rivalry is an allegory for the challenges each faces in his own life.

The Big Year is set to hit theaters on October 12th! Can’t wait!

OFFICIAL: Eddie Murphy is Hosting the 2012 Oscars

It’s official! Eddie Murphy will be hosting the 2012 Oscars (Academy Awards) on Sunday, February 26th. Telecast producers Brett Ratner and Don Mischer announced made the big announcement:

“Eddie is a comedic genius, one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever,” said Ratner. “With his love of movies, history of crafting unforgettable characters and his iconic performances – especially on stage – I know he will bring excitement, spontaneity and tremendous heart to the show Don and I want to produce in February.”

Mischer added,

“Eddie is a truly ground-breaking performer, whose amazingly diverse array of roles has won him a devoted audience of all ages. His quick wit and charisma will serve him very well as Oscar host.”

Eddie Murphy beamed,

“I am enormously honored to join the great list of past Academy Award hosts from Hope and Carson to Crystal, Martin and Goldberg, among others. I’m looking forward to working with Brett and Don on creating a show that is enjoyable for both the fans at home and for the audience at the Kodak Theatre as we all come together to celebrate and recognize the great film contributions and collaborations from the past year.”

Congrats on the gig Eddie! We can’t wait to see you in action! We know that you will be wayyyyy better than what we had last year…….
