Once upon a time, Tatum was a struggling stripper who had to sell his sex appeal to make money. Today, the stripper-turned-model-turned actor is one of the hottest and most appealing names in the film industry. In Tatum’s 2012 roman-a-clef, Magic Mike, the actor turned bigwig heads with his hip-swivels and excellent acting. Today, several months after the life changing release of his film, he is one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood.
Tatum was modest when he heard the news of his dubious award, “My first thought was, ‘Y’all are messing with me. I told Jenna [Dewan-Tatum] after we’d been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they’d gotten skunked. She was like, ‘What?’” Tatum met Dewan in 2006 on the set of Step-Up, one of his first films. The couple married in 2009 and is still happily together. According to Tatum, he now has a new title in the Tatum home, “Yeah, she calls me [the Sexiest Man Alive] now.”
Tatum is no ordinary pretty boy crafted in a modeling studio, he is a kindred spirit and sculptor who quotes Edgar Allan Poe and loves to give his wife massages. According to Tatum, he is excited to start a family, “I’m ready; I think she’s ready. The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that. It’s really easy for us guys to say, ‘I want like 15 kids.’ Jenna will be like, ‘Well you better get another wife!’”
Tatum is currently training to play an Olympic athlete in next year’s much anticipated release, Foxcatcher. The training regime will be daunting for most men, but not for Tatum. He said, “I like to be lean. If I get too bulky I can’t move well and I like to move. When I’m not training, I get really round and soft.” Luckily for Tatum, his wife doesn’t care, “People know him to be fun and sexy, but they don’t know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is.
