Oh man – so much positivity until this came along. Beyonce and Jay-Z were reportedly paid with poverty fund money back in 2006 when the former Governor, Goodluck Jonathan, paid them with the local poverty alleviation funds which no one actually knew about until now! And from what we’re hearing… people are totally pissed at the fact that Jonathan spent a whopping amount from the organization.
One Direction’s Harry Styles is getting praised by his buddy Ed Sheeran who has revealed the 1D star recently spent $6,000 on hot food before handing it out to homeless people around Los Angeles. Harry, who recently went to Ghana with the rest of the boy group in support of UK’s Comic Relief, has been getting a lot of bad press in recent months, especially with the whole “Taylor Swift break-up” mess, but that shouldn’t come in between the amazing guy that he is, Ed explains.
Talking to The Mirror, he says: “We were in LA about three months ago and he had a day off. He spent two or three grand on Domino’s pizza and drove around giving them out to homeless people. That’s an amazing story,” before adding: “People write about Harry in a negative way because of his love life, but he does stuff like that a lot. He’s a pretty genuine guy.”
Lady Gaga enjoyed a day out with local children as they played football in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro. The singer who is currently in Brazil as part of her ‘Born This Way Ball’ world tour, shocked onlookers when she strolled through the rough area in the Cantalgo slum earlier this week. Showing off her pink hair, Gaga shared pictures of her experience in Brazil, as hundreds of residents left their home to greet the singer before asking for autographs and hugs (see pictures below).
Gaga was definitely moved by her visit to Rio de Janeiro when she tweeted: ”Today was the best day I’ve ever had, had so much fun.I’ll never forget Rio, you lit my heart into flames.” … ”We even played football, they were SO GOOD IT WAS CRAZY.” It was definitely an exciting day for the residents as they usually witness terrible things happen in the area which is known to be very dangerous when reports claimed 20 people are assassinated every day in Rio, while millions are left homeless.
Meanwhile, Gaga has also shared other exciting news. Earlier this month she announced she would be donating $1 million to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort after last week’s mishap. Explaining on her official website: ”Today I pledge 1 million dollars to New York & The American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief,” she wrote.
“If it wasn’t for NYC: the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today.” She continued: “New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion. Please accept this gift on behalf of myself, my parents Joe and Cynthia, and my sister Natali; with our deepest gratitude New York for raising us. Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours. Sincerely, Lady GaGa and The Germanottas.”
Why do we get the feeling that Chris Brown isn’t genuine with the idea of starting his own children charity. The singer, who beat up Rihanna (we had to mention it), wants to start a charity that will help kids to be more creative and share their work with the world, seeing that Chris has a huge passion for artwork himself (see his shirtless body for a perfectly good example – it’s covered in “art”).
The charity will also focus on educating teens due to young adults struggling to find jobs, and not to forget, it will also help raise awareness about domestic violence. Brown has definitely been trying to show people that he is trying to turn his life around by starting a charity of his own where teens and younger children can be creative and share their work along with focusing on domestic violence and educating students.
“Chris wanted to focus on supporting arts programs because art has been such an integral part of his life,” explained a source involved in the project. “It’s been a way for him to express who he is ever since he was a young child. He’s been quietly painting for years and sees it as a positive outlet for low income children. Chris has been extremely generous with both his finances and time with his foundation.”
“He really wanted to find an effective way to help children and teens. And honestly, I have to say Chris is one of the most caring and genuine people I’ve ever worked with on a philanthropic cause. This will be one of the most active foundations established by anyone in his generation. He will be actively engaging with young people and his fans with it.”
Let’s just hope no children get hurt when he loses his temper! Ha. We had to insert a joke here.
