DWTS: J.R. Martinez Honored With ‘Unsung Hero Award’, Dances Again

J.R. Martinez won us over during his time on Dancing With The Stars.  He was a heart melting gentleman with some serious dancing skills even he didn’t know he had.  We loved him, and he won the show.  But things haven’t ended there for our dancing war hero.  He’s still feeling the love everywhere he goes.  The latest place he was honored was as guest of honor at Lois Pope’s the Lady in Red Ball at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach.

J.R. received the Unsung Hero Award for “overcoming devastating injuries to make a full life for himself and in so doing bring the plight of America’s three million living disabled veterans into our country’s consciousness.”

He donated a dance to the person who pledged $25,000 to benefit the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial that Pope, the widow of the founder of the National Enquirer, is financing on 2.4 acres in Washington, D.C, but the donor gave the dance to Pope instead. She told People,

“I am so thrilled to meet his charming man.  I voted for him on Dancing with the Stars and asked all my friends to do the same. I am honored and inspired to be in his presence.”

J.R. had a wonderful time and was honored to be part of the special night,

“I am honored to be here, because Lois Pope’s mission to build this Memorial in Washington is so awesome for someone like me to see.”

Congrats to you once again J.R.!  You so deserve it!
