Simon Cowell Admits On Considering To Axe X Factor US & UK By The End Of Year Due To Poor Ratings

X Factor is soon to go into its second series but if you’re a fan of the show and hoping to see another season afterwards, you could be wrong. Simon Cowell has revealed on plans to scrap the whole X Factor in the US and in the UK due to low ratings in both countries whilst rival shows such as The Voice and American Idol continue to succeed with high ratings each week. Cowell said: “I’d rather fall off the cliff on numbers than deteriorate slowly,” when asked on what he thought of the show dipping in viewers ratings.

The show is still believed to be in crisis-mode as they are still in search for two new judges after producers axed Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger for being ‘too dull’. According to sources, Britney Spears is in the running to join the show but is still unsure due to the fact that the money she was offered ($10million) is not exactly the amount she would want to settle for (note: Spears makes up to $8million per perfume deal while Jennifer Lopez makes $18million on AI).

“We have something in development which could replace The X Factor. Most things in music, fashion or TV tend to be across a ten-year period. The great test of success is if you can transcend a decade. I believe we can do it again if we’re prepared to be brave.”

Meanwhile, X Factor UK is also having trouble getting the judges together as Kelly Rowland had hinted that she’s not sure herself if she wants to come back for another season after clashing with judge, Tulisa Contostavlos on live television – causing her to leave the show for a week before returning.

Take That’s front-man, Gary Barlow is also having trouble sorting out his contract for the show due to the fact that he’s scheduled certain concerts that would clash with the audition stages – not to forget that his wife is also expecting another baby later this year.

What do you think? Is X Factor going to be gone for good by 2013 and if so – what will you be watching?
