Katie Holmes had friend, Victoria Beckham help her deal with filing to divorce husband of five years, Tom Cruise. The two, who first became good friends when Victoria and David Beckham had decided to move to Los Angeles in 2007, have been there for each other ever since and Victoria was the first person that came to Katie’s mind when she was about to file for divorce.
Vic is friends with both Tom and Katie, therefore, she didn’t take sides in who was right and who was wrong: “Victoria’s been a real tower of strength,” a source said. “Katie’s seen how a normal marriage should function by being around Victoria and David Beckham, so she knew that something was wrong with her relationship with Tom.
Offering her support whenever she may need it, the source added: “She and Victoria have been talking a lot. Posh has been trying not to take sides, but she has let Katie know she’ll be there for her whatever she chooses to do.”
The couple released a statement yesterday, saying that both parents are committed to be parents to their daughter Suri, and that they both respect each other’s beliefs. “We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests,” they said.
“We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”
