Christina Aguilera Says She Embraces Ageing: ‘Love Me Or Hate Me, This Is Who I Am’
Christina Aguilera has explained to People that ever since she’s had a baby, her body may have changed, but she’s never looked back since, recalling her body changing as “amazing”. In the exclusive interview, the ‘Your Body singer says that she’s never been afraid of starting something new, which is something that inspired many songs on her newest album Lotus.
She tells the mag: “Some people are afraid of change and [feel] that getting older is a bad thing, but I really love maturing and gaining wisdom,” Aguilera said. “And the experience of being pregnant and having a child and seeing what a woman’s body can do is amazing.”
The singer has been blasted in recent months for her weight gain, while Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne said that Christina looked like a “fat b*tch” when she performed at a Michael Jackson tribute event. However, it seems that Aguilera is strong enough to take the criticism and put it to one side — explaining that whether you love her or hate her, she’ll still be the person she wants to be.
“I’ve always been one to make it very clear, love me or hate me, take it or leave it, this is who I am,” she said. “I embrace my body, and I embrace everything about myself. Coming full circle is a celebration of freedom and happiness because that’s what Lotus is representing. I’m embracing everything that I’ve grown to be and learned to be.”
