It looks like FOX is doing exactly what was rumored when it comes to American Idol- they are bringing back familiar faces. Jennifer Hudson is now confirmed to be returning to the show that first got her noticed and brought her into millions of homes each week. Jennifer only ended up in 6th place in AI’s third season before being sent home, but we all know that means precious little now. She has won an Oscar for Dreamgirls and has dropped a few successful records since Idol sent her packing.
According to the July 8th print edition of STAR magazine Jennifer is excited to be returning to her old stomping grounds, this time as a judge. She knows what it’s like to be performing in front of a huge audience with little experience and then have to take the rough critique of a judging panel.
FOX producers are said to trust her judgment completely and she’s excited to be able to help a young crop of up and coming singers. Jen is so excited about landing the gig that she has been house hunting so that by the time production starts she and her family will be settled in and all she’ll need to focus on is work.
Do you think FOX is making a wise decision in bringing back some old favorites? If they tap into the talent that made AI a mega hit in the first place, will that help to boost the ratings back up? Or are Idol’s best years behind them and should they just let it go? Should the show return for another season at all? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
