It would be an understatement to say that Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam’s casting for Fifty Shades of Grey has been met with enthusiastic response – whether positive or negative – all over the internet.
Some of the fan reactions are below, ranging from the hilarious to the outright bewildering. Funnily enough, a lot of these fans also don’t seem to have their grammar in order. Although to be fair, I guess it is Twitter.
One fan wrote, “Just saw who will be Christian and Anastasia in Fifty Shades of Grey. Hmmm, never heard about them before.” Another wrote, “Ok…. they kill it they freaking kill it. The movie has been totally ruined. Fifty shades will suck now.”
There was a fan also wrote, “First it was Ben Affleck as batman& now they have cast Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey in 50 SHADES OF GREY…that’s so wrong! #FiftyShades.”
Fear not, there were also some logical reactions. One [sane] fan wrote, “It seems everyone has a different opinion on #Fiftyshades movie casting but we need to trust @E_L_James decisions after all she did write.”

I can’t believe the choice for christian! What was the motivation behind casting a short, fat, pig eyed hillbilly jesse james type? Was the budget so low that they had to resort to a couple of lifetime movie wannabes? That’s what you get when you let the author get involved in an industry that they know nothing about!
I actually think it’s perfect casting
She is completely unattractive and needs a nose job. .looks nothing like how Anastasia is described in the book and neither is he..Christian is supposed to be almost beautiful and sexy and chiseled and Charlie definitely isn’t. I wont see this movie with this casting. Hope they change their mind!
