Catching Fire New Stills – Visual Improvement Over The Hunger Games? (PHOTOS)

Is it just me, or was there way more anticipation before the release of the first Hunger Games movie last March? Catching Fire‘s release is a month away, yet I’m not hearing about the crazy fan girls on the radio or seeing much of the promotion kick in just yet. Maybe Lionsgate is waiting until November to kick promo into high gear, but for now, they’ve released several new stills from the movie.

The studio has released three new stills from Catching Fire – the first one is of Peeta Mellak [Josh Hutcherson] getting interviewed by Caesar Flickerman [Stanley Tucci]. The next one shows Effie Trinket [Elizabeth Banks] in all of her Alexander McQueen glory. Finally, the third still shows Katniss Everdeen [Jennifer Lawrence] and Peeta entering the training area for the first time, and by the looks on their faces, they are quite intimidated by what they see.

You know what strikes me the most about these images? The stills showcase much more depth and visual clarity than anything from The Hunger Games. It’s definitely a result of the differences in both directors’ styles, but it’s obvious that there was a lot more money spent on Catching Fire than there was on The Hunger Games.

Obviously, with the smash success of the Hunger Games, it wouldn’t have been any different. There was no way Lionsgate could skimp on the budget for the second film, not with how much profits they made.

Are you guys excited for Catching Fire? Tickets for the film have already gone on sale, and I have a feeling they’ll sell out quickly – so buy them as soon as you can.
