The first teaser for X-Men: Days of Future Past has been released, but as it’s less than ten seconds, there’s not much to discern from it. The full trailer will release on October 29th, which should pacify fans who’ve been wanting to get a glimpse of the sentinels.
There’s not too much known about the plot of Days of Future Past. What we do know is that in the future, sentinels [mutant-hunting machines] will have gained too much power, and mutants are slowly getting exterminated. Professor X and Magneto team up to send Wolverine back to the past, to the 70s time period. There, he has the tough job of convincing younger Professor X and younger Magneto to believe him, and to help him prevent the future from coming true.
Most of the cast members, both from the original X-Men films and First Class, have returned to this movie, including Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Daniel Cudmore.
The teaser gives us short glimpses of each character, and the only major plot points we’re able to discern from the trailer is that Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique is crying, and she gets unwillingly dragged across the floor by Magneto. Apart from that, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine screams in pain as he’s encapsulated by some sort of head gear, which we’re guessing is what is enabling him to time travel.
We’ll have to wait for the full trailer to get a proper context for those scenes, but for now, the sneak peak has been enough to sate die-hard X-Men fans and pique the curiosity of others.
