Lake Bell Poses Naked On The Cover Of Esquire Magazine
Esquire Magazine is known for placing Hollywood actors and actresses on its covers with barely a stitch of clothing on, so I guess Lake Bell is following the trend that way. Bell graces the cover of the upcoming issue of Esquire, and although she’s completely naked apart from a pair of sheer tights, you can’t see anything because of the strategically placed location of her hands.
This isn’t the first time Bell’s stripped for her art, not counting her actual films and television appearances, of course. She’s previously graced New York Magazine without any clothes on, although again, there was some strategic body movement and hand placement that made sure that every NSFW bit was covered up.
Anyway, Bell is one of the few women in the industry who’s not just an actress, but also a writer AND a director. I would hope that she would rely on those talents to get her films going, but unfortunately, that’s not how Tinseltown works. Stripping off your clothes and posing on a men’s magazine is great way to get the buzz going for whatever you’re promoting, and considering that Bell is primarily focused on indie films, she’ll need all the publicity she can get.
Also, it doesn’t seem like she particularly minds being naked, unlike a lot of other actresses. She spoke with Hitfix, explaining, “I’m not squeamish being nude! I’ve done it in the past, and I really don’t care. I have a sense of humor about nudity and all that. It’s like, ‘Hey, so what, we all get naked.'”
Well, there you have it, folks. She doesn’t care, and as I said, it’s great promotion for her work. We need more female writers and directors in Hollywood, so even if she has to pose naked to get more work, we should support that decision.
