Clarence House has just confirmed via Twitter that Kate Middleton is pregnant with her second baby. That didn’t take long, did it?
The speculation concerning Kate’s second pregnancy has been mounting for the past few months, ever since royal sources started leaking news about Kate getting pregnant over the summer. For one thing, we knew [thanks to Vanity Fair] that Kate and Prince William were trying for their second baby over the summer, and we also knew [thanks to Kate’s ex-BF Jessica Hay] that Kate was probably pregnant.
Now, the royals quickly dismissed Jessica, but they didn’t confirm or deny the pregnancy news. Instead, they just let the speculation continue to build over the last few weeks, until they finally confirmed the news this morning.
Clarence House tweeted, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.”
The BBC also released an additional statement from Clarence, confirming that both the Queen and the families of Kate and Will are delighted with the news. The Prime Minister of England, David Cameron, has also jumped in with his congratulations, tweeting, “Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I’m delighted by the happy news that they’re expecting another baby.”
The gender of the baby hasn’t been announced, but the statement does explain that Kate is once again suffering from acute morning sickness. She had this same issue during her first trimester with Prince George, and she was actually hospitalized for it. Perhaps the royals were worried that the news of her pregnancy would come out the same way, so they just beat the press to the punch.
