Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea joined forces to create a video ‘Booty,’ which I mistook for a budget phone sex commercial.
It is supposed to be the music video. However, JLo and Iggy snatched up some of Kelly Kapowski’s old swimsuits, a couple boxes of Lee Press On Nails, lip balm, a pack of Misty Ultra Lights, a garden hose and Bubble Yum to create 4 minutes of soft porn circa 1992.
Social media immediately hit the WTF? button on their laptops and blasted the video. Responses ranged from: “[The] music industry is really dead if this is what it takes to sell albums these days,” to “I’d feel less dirty watching porn.”
When you are working with a song in which 80% of the lyrics are – “Big, big booty… What you got a big booty,” what do you expect? Eleven people lent their hands in writing this. ELEVEN, including Chris Brown, Asia Bryant, Pitbull, Diplo, Lewis D. Gittus, Tedra Renee Wilson, and Danny Omerhodic.
It makes me sad for the future too.
Of course, there is some support…somewhere. JLo stans will undoubtedly make this their ringtone and run out to EOS lip balm and gum.
Most reviews have been positive when it comes to the industry’s thoughts. Amaya Mendizabal of Billboard called the track, “A massive dance record that begs for a dance troop and some serious choreography.” They must have scrapped the serious choreography and went cheap hiring Jello to ensure the enough rump jiggle was packed into 4 minutes of water play.
What do you think of the song and video?
