The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that a variety of new characters will become important parts of Genoa City. But which, of the four cited below will make the greatest long-term impact?
Nate (Brooks Darnell) quickly advanced from Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) visiting nephew, to being a key part of the Ashby, Hamilton, and Newman family’s lives.
The wise grief counseling Nate offered to Devon (Bryton James) helped to influence feelings about Lily’s (Christel Khalil) plight. The seeming sentence-change the judge offered likely cut Mrs. Ashby’s prison time by many years.
Neil asked Nate to return to his birth town in order to serve as Victor’s (Eric Braeden) concierge doctor. Doctor Hastings soon added Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) as a patient and remains ready to take on Victoria (Amelia Heinle), despite her expressed defensive posture.
Nate’s historical Y&R lineage and his connection to GC’s major family clearly makes him a potential major player moving forward.
Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) is Arturo’s (Jason Canela) brother. The expansion of the Rosales’ is very noteworthy, in that it adds a brand new family to this fictional Wisconsin city.
Thrust into the unsolved J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) mystery, Rey has been revealed as one of Paul’s (Doug Davidson) colleagues. Undercover no more, Vilasuso’s character will surely be involved in the major drama that will affect Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) life and, more importantly, the coverup crew’s.

Victor (Eric Braeden) will do all that’s needed to protect his wife and daughter from prosecution whenever the truth about J.T. is learned. That alone makes Rey’s presence worth watching.
Arturo mentioned his sister’s name, Lola (Sasha Calle), earlier this summer. Abby (Melissa Ordway) mistakenly thought an item of Lola’s clothing represented her now-boyfriend’s alternative love interest. Calle’s character’s mid-September addition will expand the Rosales’ family to three members.
As the youngest member of her clan, Lola is primed for a different type of plot path than Arturo, or Rey have been written onto. Who she becomes involved with and what her other pursuits may involve will prove intriguing. Her brother’s existing connections will certainly create some who are predisposed to be friends, or enemies.
Kerry Jones (Alice Hunter) will appear in GC in October. Hunter’s character will be a chemist at Jabot.
Eileen Davidson (Ashley) will depart Y&R this fall, per her voluntary exit. Kerry takes Ashley’s spot in Jabot’s laboratory.
Various guys are sure to notice Kerry. Billy (Jason Thompson), assuming he’s still sitting in the Chief Executive Officer’s chair by October, will interact with this important member of the Jabot team. Kyle (Michael Mealor) could easily use an interest Kerry as a way to anger Summer (Hunter King), who he remains transfixed with for foolish reasons.
Hunter’s character, along with the three other fresh faces mentioned, add to Y&R’s broad stable of engaging personalities. Which GC resident makes the greatest impact should serve to create good soap.
