Big congrats to Pao and Russ! The “90 Day Fiance” couple welcomed their first child, a bouncing baby boy they named Axel, on exactly Jan. 1, 2019—a New Year’s Day baby!
Pao and Russ first announced their pregnancy in July last year but opted to keep their due date a secret. The couple spoke to People and opened up about their birthing experience which Pao described as “an amazing way to start a new year.”
Baby Axel was born at 12:22 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1, measuring 22 inches and weighing 7 lbs., 5 oz. According to Pao and Russ, they were hoping for a Christmas baby, but Axel decided to come out a little later.
“While I was hearing the fireworks and people telling me Happy New Year, I was just focused on meeting my baby,” Pao said. “It wasn’t easy, but it was totally worth it!”
Meanwhile, Russ couldn’t stop raving about his wife and new son. The first-time dad said that he was by Pao’s side all throughout her labor and delivery. He praised his Colombian-born wife for an amazing job “pushing their son out into the world.”
“Mama and baby are doing great and I have so much pride when I see us all together,” Russ gushed. “Axel is such a calm and sweet little boy and I’m happy to say I’m one proud father.”
As for Pao, she calls her baby boy her “little miracle.” The 31-year-old reality star recently revealed that she’s had a devastating miscarriage in 2017. Her entire pregnancy has not been particularly easy, as well. The “90 Day Fiance” alum has received a lot of hateful comments on social media for exercising too much while pregnant, and even for posting sexy baby bump photos. But for the new mom, baby Axel makes everything worth it.
“My little miracle is so beautiful and calm. I feel so blessed and I can’t believe I am a mom now. I’m ready to start this new adventure and to be the best mom for baby Axel,” Pao said.
Pao and Russ first appeared on “90 Day Fiance” Season 1 and went on to appear on succeeding spin-offs. There is no word whether the two will return for another season.
