Barely a month after giving birth, Paola Mayfield bravely admits that she is currently going through a tough time emotionally. Pao Admits She Has Baby Blues
“It feels so good to be out, I just walked almost three miles today and of course I paced myself moving slowly as I’m still recovering,” Pao began. “ I’ve been having a tough week, I’m not going to lie. I think I’m experiencing the baby blues after giving birth.”
Pao and her husband Russ welcomed their firstborn, baby Axel, on exactly New Year’s day. The couple previously announced their pregnancy in July last year. Baby Axel is Pao and Russ’ miracle baby, as he was born after a previous miscarriage. Pao revealed her devastating loss in an emotional post just before giving birth. According to the Colombian native, she suffered a miscarriage back in 2017–which she said was a terrible year for her.
According to the Mayo Clinic, postpartum “baby blues” is common among new moms because of a surge of hormones after giving birth. Symptoms include mood swings, anxiety, crying spells, loss of appetite, and trouble sleeping. This could go on up to weeks after delivery and could sometimes lead to depression. It is important for the mom to get emotional, physical, and mental support from her partner and the people around her.
