General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) will soon have her first real therapy session with new General Hospital psychiatrist Dr. Neil Byrne (Joe Flanagan). But how many sessions will the lovelorn Dr. Byrne and the rebound prone Alexis have before it turns from therapy into the beginnings of “Nelexis”? More importantly, is Dr. Neil friend or foe, or even a distant relative?
The two almost decided not to proceed with the doctor-patient relationship when they first met and hit it off right away, until the desire downing fact arose that Neil was Alexis’ new psychiatrist and Alexis was Neil’s new patient! But then they decided that they could keep things professional in spite of their obvious attraction to each other and call it “good rapport” instead. After all, a good rapport between a psychiatrist and a patient is vital for them to make any progress with the patient’s issues!

Neil Is A Cassadine?
General Hospital viewers quickly picked up on Neil’s interest in Russian aristocracy in exile as a clue that he will be someone significant in Alexis’ life, because Alexis is a Cassadine, and Cassadines are from a Russian aristocratic family who went into exile!
Alexis would be in the same branch of the family tree as Stefan (Stephen Nichols), Stavros (Robert Kelker-Kelly), and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick-Stuart). They were all her half-brothers, with Valentin (as far as we know!) being the remaining survivor.

However, there is plenty of room for GH writers to play if they wanted to make Dr. Neil a distant Cassadine relative; Mikkos Cassadine (John Colicos) had two brothers, Tony (Andre Landzaat) and Victor (Thaao Penghlis) plus a sister, Sophia, who was never cast as a character on GH.
Could Neil And Alexis Be Related?
But that would make Neil and Alexis first cousins, so if they want to write a love match “kissin’ cousins” would be a little too closely related. But Mikkos’ cousin Petros (also John Colicos), a ringer for Mikkos could be an option for Neil’s Cassadine roots, as could Dimitri (Michael Carvin), a poor Cassadine from Brazil, who was also a cousin of Mikkos.
Either of those could be either a father or grandfather to Neil, which would put his relation far enough apart from Alexis for it to work.
It would be an interesting play on GH writers’ parts to give Valentin a distant cousin that could come in to give him a run for his money, literally, and think getting close to Alexis would get him closer to a family fortune!
Stay tuned to GH and keep checking General Hospital spoilers frequently to see whether Neil and Alexis keep it professional, or whether “Nelexis” happens, or if Neil is really an opportunistic Cassadine cousin out for the money!
As always, more detailed spoilers and a full collection of pictures for the week in question will appear on Soap Opera Spy, where there will be more clues and hints over exactly what’s going on.
