Take, for instance, Jane Elliot, who played the character Tracy Quartermaine, Ned’s mother. Kurth recalled, “Jane’s not the easiest person. She’s a tough cookie. She scares people. She can scare me, but in a good way. She’s that mirror we all need to make us grow in the areas that we are most afraid of, where we need to look at ourselves.”

But they became really good friends and he considers her his guardian angel. He was all smiles when he talked about his onscreen wife Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri), which he described as sweet, fun, and beautiful.
These two women were part of a major storyline that he considers close to his heart. In 2017, his character Ned married Olivia but also had to leave his mother, Tracy. He considers this a nice story and believes it to be one of his strongest works.
He also said he adored the late Anna Lee (Lila Quartermaine). “My favorite moments were the quiet moments with Anna, actually when it was just her and me talking in the living room about Edward or Alan. Those were the moments that I cherish, sitting there in the den, one-on-one with Anna Lee,” he said.
Kurth Is Daytime Royalty
He also had something to say about Alan Quartermaine’s removal from the canvas. For him, it would have been better if the soap kept the character played by (Stuart Damon). “Had he been there now as the patriarch, it would’ve been so much fun. We would’ve been able to carry on the craziness of the Quartermaines.”
Meanwhile, Wally Kurth recently celebrated a milestone for reaching 32 years in daytime. He first took on a daytime role in 1987 as Justin Alexander Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives. He is part of Salem’s legacy families, The Kiriakis. Four years after, he became part of “General Hospital” where he played the character Ned Ashton, who is also a member of a legacy family in Port Charles, the Quartermaines.
Kurth has been playing both roles ever since he was cast on both soaps. He also took on a recurring role as Sam Hutchkins on As the World Turns from 2007 to 2008. With his years of experience in daytime soaps and for being one of the best actors today, it is no wonder that he is considered as a soap royalty.
