The Young and the Restless spoilers

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) casting news for the week of April 8 tease big drama is ahead in Genoa City. The new head writer, Josh Griffith has the difficult task of making the show watchable again after former showrunner Mal Young almost completely ruined the soapy series. He’s off to a great start. Here’s the casting scoop for next week.

Y&R Spoilers– Neil’s Funeral Brings Many Familiar Faces

Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will be back to pay tribute to her father. She will feel blindsided by his death. Last week, she told her husband Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) that she wanted a divorce after she gave him the news that she was getting released from prison early. She will not come back to live in Genoa City. Now, CBS has the difficult decision of writing the character off for good or considering a recast. We’ll have to wait to see how they handle it.

Stan Shaw will appear as the Reverend for Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) funeral. He appeared as St. John’s co-star in Roots: The Next Generation.

Jill Atkinson (Jess Walton) will be back in Genoa City to attend Neil’s funeral. She will appear as herself in the tribute episode where she will reveal some of her favorite moments with Kristoff.

Tanya Lee Williams (ex-Olivia) will not make an appearance for Neil’s funeral. The actress is out of the country filming. Victoria Rowell (Drucilla Winters) and Mishael Morgan (Hilary Curtis) will appear as themselves on the tribute episode.

Young And The Restless Spoilers — Fan Favorites Return

Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) is back for more drama in GC. He will return to Y&R in the Spring. It isn’t known if he is back on contract or if he will just return for an exciting storyline. But with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) coming back, Kevin’s return may be tied to that.

Adam Newman will be coming back to Genoa City in the coming weeks, too. So far, CBS has kept his returning storyline and airdate under wraps.

There is buzz that Gloria Bardwell (Judith Chapman) will be coming back soon too. Her arc on Days of Our Lives is over so Gloworm is free to pop in. Let’s hope that happens. It’s always fun with Gloria around.

In a shocking casting shakeup, CBS fired Gina Tognoni and rehired Michelle Stafford for the role of Phyllis Abbott. At this time, CBS has not released Gina’s last airdate.

Y&R Spoilers– Not So Shocking Exits

Arturo Rosales (Jason Canela) will exit the soap opera. There is no word on his last airdate yet. Right now, Mia Rosales (Noemi Gonzalez) is pregnant and the father could be Arturo or Her estranged husband Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso). Considering Rey is sticking around, it’ll probably not be Arturo’s child.

On Sunday night, Noemi Gonzalez confirmed that Mia will leave Genoa City next month.  There is no information on her final airdate yet.

Kerry Johnson (Alice Hunter) left Genoa City after she was exposed as Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) spy. She thanked the fans for accepting her and teased she could return in the future.
