Daytime Emmy Reels Won’t Be Released This Year– NATAS Said Submissions Will Be Confidential
It has become an annual tradition for many soap fans to watch the Daytime Emmy Award submissions online. However, this year, you will not be able to do that because the submissions are not going to be released to the public and will remain confidential, Soap Opera Network reported. That’s right, they expect the fans to watch the award ceremony online and now, they cannot even watch the submissions.
“In consideration of requests for confidentiality, consistency, fairness, and respect to all parties submitting materials for the 2019 Daytime Emmy(R) Awards, NATAS will not be supplying reels this year to the public or the press,” said a rep from National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Daytime Emmy Award Reels — The Fans React To The News
To say the fans are not happy would be a great understatement of their feelings. Many have felt for several years that the NATAS has been reducing the press the event gets each other. Several years ago, the award ceremony stopped airing on broadcast television. Then, the show aired on the Pop channel, which was okay for some viewers.
It was when they announced it wouldn’t be shown on television at all and the only way to see it was to watch online. If that didn’t aggravate the fans enough, now they learn, they won’t be able to watch the actor’s submissions.
No Daytime Emmy reels for viewing this year? This thing becomes even more of a joke with every passing year. I don't think I am even going to watch, not if I can't see the work that was submitted. #Days #GH #YR #BoldandBeautiful @DaytimeEmmys

Daytime Emmy Reels — Fans Point Out How Shady It Sounds
It didn’t take long for a social media user to point out that it sounds like there is something shady going on behind the scenes. Without seeing the work, the user points out that there is no way for them to know if their work was better than another actor’s. And, many fans said they really enjoy watching the videos.
The majority of the fans believe that the reason the reels will not be released is so they will not have to answer why some actors were nominated and others were passed over – specifically Thad Luckinbill (JT Hellstrom, Y&R), Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman, Y&R, Michelle Stafford (Nina Reeves, GH), and Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones, GH).
Are you shocked that NATAS isn’t releasing the Emmy reels? Don’t forget to come back later for more soap opera news and updates!
