Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that a well-meaning, however misguided Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) will try to help Haley Chen (Thia Megia), which he recognizes signs of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, by methods which could be dangerous.
Tripp, who had suffered from PTSD before himself, will go by his own experiences and how he was successfully treated, and try to treat her the same way. At first, he will do the right thing and tell her he recognizes what is happening to her, and that it is serious enough that she should seek medical and psychiatric treatment for it.
However, recalling her suicide attempt at Salem University Hospital and the feelings that led up to it, she doesn’t want to see anyone there because she doesn’t want anyone to know. She likely won’t want this to get back to JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) either, not wanting to worry him. So Tripp will do the only thing he can, and that is to try to help her himself with what he knows from going through it.
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Tripp Dalton Tries To Treat Her Himself
Tripp recalls the tranquilizers that he was prescribed for his case when he was under treatment for the disorder. He calls Dr. Henry Shah (Andre Khabazzi) and tells him he needs some more of those tranquilizers. But he likely tells him a tale so he can just call in a prescription for him without seeing him in an office visit. Dr. Shah accommodates Tripp’s request, possibly as a one-time courtesy, and Tripp picks up the pills.
Haley has another hallucination while at the loft and JJ is there, but she manages to hide what is going on and doesn’t tell him. By this time Tripp has arrived back home at the loft with the tranquilizers and gives Haley one. It does put her to sleep enough that she apparently doesn’t have nightmares or hallucinations, at least while she is tranquilized.
Tripp, in feeling empathy for Haley and understanding what she is going through, is affected emotionally. He tells himself that his feelings for her are feelings of protection and a desire to comfort her. However, he is experiencing some side effects – romantic feelings and attraction for Haley in spite of himself!
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Tripp Dalton Continues To Deny His Feelings
He continues to deny his real feelings to himself and hide them from Haley and JJ, because he just can’t betray JJ by falling in love with his girlfriend! He rationalizes to himself that these feelings are not what they seem to be, and only materialize because of he and Haley bonding over their shared traumatic experiences and what they have been through together.

So, in a sense they are side effects, but they have nothing to do with medicine whatsoever. Tripp will continue to hide his true feelings for Haley and stay in denial of them as he continues to try and help her overcome the onset of her PTSD even with the three of them, Tripp, JJ and Haley all living together in the loft.
