General Hospital Spoilers: Bah, Humbug! Michael Easton As Scrooge!
General Hospital spoilers tease that the episode for Monday, December 23 will be a special presentation of your favorite GH characters and actors in Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” with Michael Easton as Scrooge!
GH Spoilers: A Christmas Carol – A Short History
The full name of the famous Charles Dickens novel, “A Christmas Carol. In Prose. Being a Ghost Story of Christmas.” has come to be commonly known as “A Christmas Carol” and has been the subject of many Christmas television specials and movies over the years, but this is the first time in television history that it has been performed on a soap opera!
“A Christmas Carol” recounts the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet To Come. Also featured is Scrooge’s underpaid, overworked clerk Bob Crachit and his family, and their sickly son, Tiny Tim. The Ghost of Christmas past takes Scrooge to his past, including his childhood and engagement, who breaks up with Scrooge when she sees he will never love her as much as he loves his money. Also in the past is his first boss, Mr. Fezziwig, who treated him like a son.
The Ghost of Christmas present takes him to a joyous market where people are buying food to make their Christmas feasts, and to other Christmas celebrations. Then it takes him to Bob Crachit’s house where Scrooge sees Crachit’s youngest son, Tiny Tim, and informs him if things don’t change Tiny Tim will die. Finally, the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come takes him to his own funeral where no one shows up to remember Scrooge fondly, and also to the Crachit home, where the family is mourning the death of Tiny Tim.
General Hospital Spoilers: GH’s Take On A “Christmas Carol”
In General Hospital’s take on “A Christmas Carol” Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) plays Scrooge, with a bubbly Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) as Ghost of Christmas Present, who comes into his bedroom as he is asleep, cackling like a witch and saying “Hello Scrooge!” Scrooge, terrified, huddles in his bed and asks her what she wants with him! Next we see Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) as Bob Crachit, coming to Scrooge’s door and wishing a sour, petulant Scrooge a merry Christmas! Next, Scrooge and the ghost look through the window of the Crachit home where Scrooge remarks to him how happy they are with so little.
Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) is Mrs. Crachit and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) is the older Crachit son, helping Tiny Tim. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) looks out a window as what appears to be Scrooge’s maid. Then we see two orphans, in the Dickens novel named Innocence and Want, one of them Finn’s daughter Violet Barnes (Jophielle Love) approaching Scrooge as he hisses, “Bah, humbug!” Then it’s time for the Christmas Yet To Come, as a black robed ghost figure shows Scrooge his future. He says no, it can’t be, and the black robed figure is shown to be Ava Jerome (Maura West) who pulls out a gun and shoots him screaming right into his grave! Scrooge, with Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) by his side, says “It shall be no more!”
