General Hospital News: Réal Andrews Opens Up About Return To Port Charles
Real Andrews recently reprised his role as Marcus Taggert on “General Hospital.” And even though his stint was brief, viewers who watched can’t stop talking about his performance. Since his most recent exit, the actor finally opened up about his return stint on the sudser.
The last time Andrews was seen on the small screen portraying his alter ego on “General Hospital” was back in 2003. 17 years later, he was called back to reprise his role and it was a dream come true, according to the actor.
“It had been nearly 17 years. What’s he been through? Where’s he been? How does he still feel?. I’d wondered all of those things,” the actor said.

So when he received the scripts and learned about the storylines he’ll be part of, Andrews felt nothing short of pure bliss and excitement.
“When I got the scripts, I saw that the writers had done an amazing job in giving me so many different colors to play… They more than delivered,” Andrews explained.

The actor went on to explain how he matured as an actor over the years that he’s been gone from “General Hospital.” Since his departure, Andrews landed roles on “All My Children,” “As The World Turns,” and “Days of our Lives,” to name a few. But aside from all the work experience, he also went through a lot of things in his personal life, which helped him hone his craft as an actor.
“Back then, I didn’t have the skills that I do now to color a character as well,” he recalled. “So I think how you’re finding Taggert now is much different, much more fun and much more interesting,” he continued.
All these were evident on the screen when he shared a scene with Briana Nicole Henry’s Jordan Ashford.

“Once again, that was my growth as an actor. Whether it’s written or not, those are choices that you can make, and she responded. So that’s just adding layers and levels to your character” Andrews explained.
Andrews also attributed all the changes that hand happened to him not just as an actor but as a person to his current attitude of being thankful for everything. Aside from feeling thankful for having a job, he’s also happy to be alive. He’s struggled with substance abuse, mental health problems, and prostate cancer. And after overcoming all these things, he’s finally realized how to be contented, grateful, and happy.
