General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that although some GH fans may be tired of paternity cases, there may indeed be another one just around the corner.
As GH fans may recall from previous episodes, Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) was eating at the Metro Court when Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) showed up. The two reminisced before Curtis bluntly asked Portia if Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) was his daughter. The question didn’t come out of the blue, after all GH viewers have suspected for a while now that Curtis and Portia had some type of past relationship.
Interestingly, it was revealed that Curtis and Portia’s relationship was an extramarital affair. In fact, Portia deceived Curtis and slept with him while she was married to Marcus Taggert (Réal Andrews). Apparently, Taggert was gone all of the time and Portia was feeling lonely. (Hey, isn’t that the story with a lot of affairs?)
Anyway, like any honorable person, Curtis hit the fast exit as soon as he discovered the truth. As he told Portia during their conversation, he could have left their relationship in a fashion that was more kind. The fact that he didn’t was something he regretted. Many GH viewers though can likely understand Curtis’s behavior and sympathize.
With that said, Portia told Curtis clearly that Trina absolutely was not his daughter. Although the timing seemed about right, Portia assured Curtis that Taggert was one hundred percent Trina’s dad. But, was Portia telling the truth? What if Portia’s lying? What then?

Will GH viewers see a storyline where Trina gets sick, needs a transplant, and only Curtis can be an organ donor? Maybe Curtis is the only one who could give Trina a blood transfusion? Okay, so that’s perhaps unlikely. Outside of questions like, “Could a discovery that Trina is Curtis’s daughter ruin his relationship with Jordan” or “Could a discovery that Trina is Curtis’s daughter draw him back into Portia’s arms” there seem to be limited directions the story could go.
As it is, a discovery that Curtis is her biological father probably would have little, to no impact on Trina’s hatred for the man. In fact, such a discovery might make her idolize her deceased dad more than she already does, and it could drive a permanent wedge between Trina and Portia. Thus, the impact of a lie on Portia’s part might affect the lives of she and Trina more than anyone else!
At this point, many GH fans may be saying to themselves, “Enough!” Let Curtis get on with his life, free of worry about potential paternity issues. He has plenty to mess with his head when it comes to the deceptions Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) is pulling on him. More than that, Trina is dealing with real pain over the passing of Taggert. Whether he’s really Trina’s father or not actually doesn’t matter anymore. She loved him. She hates Curtis. That’s the end of the story for the moment.
While GH fans may agree that interesting stories are driven by conflict, they just might recognize that if Portia lied about Curtis’s paternity, it is sure to bring pain to everyone involved. Indeed, with everything all of these GH characters are going through, or have recently gone through, one has to ask why anyone would think a revelation like that is worth it.
