General Hospital (GH) spoilers revealed that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) recently gave Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) a bit of advice. Should Nelle be offered the opportunity to compromise with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), she should take it. However, GH fans know that while Nelle says she would like nothing more than to have a good, co-parenting relationship with Michael, that’s likely far from the truth.
General Hospital Spoilers – Nelle Hates Michael
GH fans know that Nelle Benson has gone out of her way to show how much she detests Michael Corinthos. Everyone knows that after a bad car wreck, Nelle left Michael to await a horrific fate. She climbed out of the car, which was leaking gasoline and left Michael to potentially burn to death if the car exploded. Then, when it became clear that Michael wasn’t going to die, Nelle switched out the son she shared with Michael! Nelle left her son, Wiley Cooper-Jones (Erik and Theo Olson) with Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) on the side of the road. Then Nelle took Brad’s dead son and presented him to Michael as if the dead baby was his own! Surely, no one can argue that Nelle’s actions reflected her deep and abiding love for the man!
Finally, within recent memory, once the truth was out concerning Nelle’s psychotic baby-switch, Nelle got Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) to help her get a hold of forged passports and birth certificates. With these in hand, Nelle planned to kidnap Wiley and ensure that Michael would never see his son again!
General Hospital Spoilers – Nelle Fights for Sole Custody
— SOS/CTS/HH (@SoapOperaSpy) April 23, 2020
Now, GH fans know that Nelle is fighting Michael for sole custody of Wiley. Whether she is fighting for sole physical or legal custody hasn’t been made entirely clear, but the two are not the same. Most likely, Nelle is going for full legal custody, since this would take everything out of Michael’s hands entirely. Michael wouldn’t get visitation rights, he wouldn’t have any say in issues such as Wiley’s healthcare, what religion Nelle chose to bring Wiley up in, or basically anything else.
However, while Nelle might initially jump for joy over sticking it to Michael like that, she might not gloat for long. That’s because if Nelle gets sole legal custody of Wiley, she’ll have to realize that every major decision in Wiley’s life is hers to make until he’s a grown man. Moreover, Nelle will have to make those decisions alone. All of that responsibility will be solely on Nelle’s shoulders. It’s a question as to whether Nelle has actually considered that.
Moreover, what would it do to Wiley to have to grow up in a single parent household where he never has the opportunity to meet or get to know his father?
General Hospital Spoilers – Nelle Should Definitely Compromise
One has to wonder if Nelle knows when to “get while the gettin’s good.” In other words, Nelle needs to know when it’s actually not just within Wiley’s interest, but also her own to accept a compromise. The truth is, if Nelle can allow herself to meet Michael somewhere in the middle, Wiley will ultimately benefit and neither she nor Michael will unduly affected.
GH fans have to wonder if Nelle plans to fight until the bitter end, or whether she might for once choose what’s best for her kid and not just what she feels is best for herself.
