The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Sharon And Mariah’s Unexpected Bond Plays Important Part In Storyline After Hiatus
CBS The Young and the Restless spoilers and updates reveal that Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) cancer battle remains unresolved due to the production shutdown. But there’s no doubt that Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) bond with her mother is proving vital during this important storyline.
Mariah has matured greatly since she accepted Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) diabolical offer to gaslight Sharon into thinking she was being haunted by Cassie Newman’s (Grimes’ initial role) ghost. Digitally skipping to today, Mariah fiercely loves her mother and is fully supporting Sharon.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Deep Daytime Resume
Case has been one of Y&R’s top stars during her tenure. She joined the cast in 1994, following two other actors (Monica Potter and Heidi Mark), who played Sharon in the same year.
The SORAS’ing (soap opera rapid aging syndrome) of Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) fueled what would become one of daytime’s top couples during that decade. While Shick endured a sometimes tumultuous relationship, many good times were also seen on-screen, which included Grimes write-in to the cast in 1997.
Grimes became one of the great, if not the greatest, child actors in Y&R’s history. And then Cassie died as the result of injuries suffered in a car accident in 2005.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Moving Beyond Shick’s Family
Y&R made one of its most controversial decisions in writing Grimes off the show. It did so as part of a plan to split Shick, which forced the characters Case and Morrow played to take different directions.
While Sharon and Nick have made it to the altar twice through the years, they’ve never retied the knot. That tease has exasperated fans of the couple but has also served to reinforce the greatness of both actors as their performances have demonstrated.
Regarding Case, her portrayal of Sharon’s mental health battles, which was specifically highlighted following the loss of Cassie and divorce from Nick was terrific. She earned a Daytime Emmy award in 1999, which reinforced the appreciation of her talent within the industry.
Sharon had a variety of other romantic relationships, bonded with Cassie’s unknown twin, Mariah, came to own Crimson Lights, and recently earned a degree in psychology, among other plotlines.
Grimes earned two Daytime Emmy awards. One was in 2000, for her portrayal of Cassie, and the other came in 2018, for her portrayal of Mariah.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Standing Strong Together
Sharon has been fully supportive of Mariah where Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) is concerned. That’s been needed due to Tessa and Mariah breaking trust with each other on a number of occasions. However, all has been repaired recently.

The strong mother-daughter bond that Sharon and Mariah’s share has also proven especially helpful due to Noah Newman’s (Robert Adamson) desire to follow his emerging artistic career and subsequent absence. Plus, Mariah has become a solid big sister to Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind).
Along with her children, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), and Nick, there’s no question that Sharon will continue to rely on Mariah as one of the main rocks in her life.
