CBS The Young and the Restless spoilers show that fans were treated to some familiar faces for the sudser’s monumental celebration of its 12,000th episode. Michael Fairman TV talked with Tricia Cast (Nina Webster) and Jess Walton (Jill Abbott) about their recent returns. Both of their characters came back to Genoa City to see Chance Chancellor (Justin Gaston) and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) get married. In a quirky twist of fate Ordway’s real-life husband, Gaston has been temporarily filling in for Donny Boaz as Chance, as the actor is out with COVID.
The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Two longtime Characters Came Back To The Show Recently
Cast has starred on the show since the 1980s although she has not been featured for some time. Her last visit was a year ago, and she shared what it meant to come back once again.
“I lost my darling husband [Bat McGrath] a year ago,” she said, “and so to go in and feel the love and support and be so well taken care of there, it was a huge thing for me.”

When Tricia was asked if she would like to return to the show she said, “I’d love it. I think it’d be great fun. I have no expectations and I’m ready for anything, so it’s all up to all y’all, as they say here [in Tennessee]. I’m blessed and it’s a gift to be able to go over and do it and I’m ready for anything.”

Jess talked about what it’s been like to play opposite Melissa Ordway’s real-life husband Justin Gaston: “I’ve had a few scenes with Chance, and Jill and Chance got along really well. But there was something so sweet about having that husband and wife there for that moment out of time, when they’d look at each other and you knew that every word they were saying was all true in real life.”
She’s right, Y&R fans witnessed something special as real-life reflected real life, and we bet that the opportunity to play those scenes will be cherished memories for the couple. Jess went on, “And the freedom that they could be close and kiss, you know what I mean, and didn’t have to be careful because of the COVID. And he was magnificent, what a…to stand in and do that—my hat is off to him—on such short notice, that was great.”
