Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) is pregnant. That matters more than the grudge Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) holds about being forced to work for Marchetti in Italy.

Summer reacted in a very atypical manner when Sally manipulated circumstances that led to a career switch. Hardcore viewers recall Hunter King (Summer) was playing the character at that point in the storyline.
Readers of this comprehensive soap site know the real reason Summer did not fight back, as she normally would have, is a plot device was used to enable the recast to Lanier. But within the soap world, Summer decided it was best for everyone if she left Jabot and went to work for Marchetti.
Of course, a subsequent plot device was used to facilitate Summer, Kyle, and Harrison Locke’s (Kellen Enriquez) return to town. Kyle pitched Jack on buying Marchetti, with a whiplash purchase that created a Genoa City, Wisconsin-based Marchetti Home division of Jabot.

Nick talked with Sally at Society, the go-to deep discussion place in GC. She gave him an earful about her conversation with Summer.
Sally was thrown by Summer turning and twisting to each reveal. Summer was glad Sally was not having her future brother or sister but angry that Nick decided to remain with her.
Summer believes Sally is taking advantage of her father’s good heart. Nick set the young adult he will forever see as his little girl straight. She listened with respect. But Summer will likely not release misgivings about Sally being part of Nick’s life.

Kyle is dealing with his own parental issues. While Summer is trying to defend her dad and is again at odds with her mother, due to Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) inability to stop obsessing about Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), Kyle is concerned about the implications of his parents’ reconciliation.

Regardless of the swirl around them, Kyle must support his wife. That is always right and would follow Summer giving Diane every benefit of the doubt in recent months.
Summer will likely continue to vent. The Sally issue is common ground for Summer and Kyle. But the other connected conflicts are ones that this married couple will need to continue working through on Y&R.
