General Hospital spoilers suggest Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) is going to find Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) latest plight to be quite interesting as it may shed light on the inner workings of Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) relationship with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Drew has only been out of town and out of touch intermittently for the last couple of weeks while helping Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) to take down Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy). Still, that’s a strain on his relationship with Carly, and when Carly is left unoccupied, her attention often drifts toward Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

The next time Nina and Ava get to sit down together, the hotelier is going to have an earful for her gal pal. Ava might have an explanation for Nina that actually makes sense, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to like it.

Nina would do well to heed Ava’s advice in this department. She’s known Sonny and Carly longer than Nina has, and the reality is that Sonny and Carly are a bit of a package deal. Nina might not understand this paradox since Ava also shares a child with Sonny and isn’t butting her nose into his private affairs on a regular basis, but Carly and Sonny share something much more intense — a history.

That doesn’t just go away with a divorce — nor four of them. Furthermore, Carly needs a man by her side just as much as Sonny needs a woman by his. She isn’t into being alone, and when left to her own devices, she will usually gravitate back to old behavior patterns, which always tend to include focusing on Sonny. Ava might have to sit Nina down and give her a primer in Sonny and Carly 101 before she can possibly understand how nothing really keeps these two apart forever.

She wants to believe she’s the only woman in Sonny’s heart, but she’s always worried that he still had lingering feelings for Carly and couldn’t truly move on from his marriage with her. On one hand, Nina has enjoyed being coupled up with Sonny and not having to deal with the reality of the darker side of his life. On the other hand, she knows Carly is right and that an all-encompassing love story with Sonny won’t happen if Nina isn’t willing to embrace all of him.
