Actually, in the summer, Disney+ and ABC fans will hopefully see them sharing photos of the new addition. They already have their six-year-old son, Shai who will become an older sibling. In the meantime, they expanded their family with a cute playmate for Shai.

However, the couple suffered a devastating miscarriage during Maksim’s trip to Ukraine. Thankfully, the pair’s dreams of expanding their family came true as they’re expecting their “rainbow baby” this summer. The ABC stars are thrilled to have another addition to their beautiful family, which already includes their charming son Shai.
One year ago, Peta Murgatroyd’s life was turned upside down when Maksim Chmerkovskiy found himself in the midst of Russia’s war with Ukraine. After a tense few weeks, the Dancing With The Stars pro-dancer was able to return home to Peta and their son Shai. Now, the family is settling into their normal routine, and they’ve welcomed a new addition – an adorable puppy!
Dancing With The Stars Spoilers – Meet Hachi Chmerkovskiy
On April 14, Peta Murgatroyd shared an adorable update on her Instagram, revealing that her son Shai was thrilled when the family welcomed a new puppy. The precious pup, Hachi Chmerkovskiy, appears to have already stolen Shai’s heart. Peta and Maksim seem thrilled to see their son and Hachi playing happily together! In fact, Shai selected Hachi’s name.
The Dancing With The Stars mom said in her caption, “This little guy has brought so much joy into our lives these past 2 days with oodles of kisses and licks and an uber playful temperament.” She did talk about it possibly being a bit of an ambitious move with a new baby coming along soon. However, she added, “There is never a perfect time right?”

Some Dancing With The Stars fans wondered if the puppy came from a rescue shelter, but Peta didn’t specify that. Still, others just loved to see a kid loving his new dog. A follower wrote, “What a cutie and what a great idea for [Shai] to have something to play with when the baby arrives.”
Meanwhile, another follower commented, “Adorable!! He will be Shai’s best buddy🤗❤️ . Dogs bring so much joy to a family. Congratulations!!”
