Summer was fanatically pursuing evidence against her mother’s supposed killer, Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is attempting to handle his wife’s assumption while trying to convince himself that his mother is innocent, as she claims.

Kyle does believe Diane changed, as does Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Both men feel certain Walters’ character was framed.

Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) was the wrong guy to get involved with. Phyllis knew that the moment he arrived in Genoa City, Wisconsin, and asked her if she was the person who drew him there.

Hyde’s character was a just-released criminal Diane put away through her testimony that was offered by the authorities in exchange for immunity. Even though Phyllis told Jeremy Diane was in GC, she did so through a burner phone to cloak her identity.

Phyllis decided Jeremy was her only option, as attempts to enlighten everyone about Diane’s devious ways failed. They teamed up on the scheme to frame Diane for Phyllis’ faked murder until Jeremy threatened to kill Stafford’s character, who rightly acted in self-defense against him.

Summer becomes the first of Phyllis’ loved ones to learn her mother is alive. But that jubilant meeting is not the first step in a quick reveal process.

Phyllis is in the second step of the process where she wants to avoid criminal prosecution after committing multiple crimes. She also needs to hope that her self-defense killing of Jeremy does not result in an arrest.

So, Summer is asked not to tell anyone about her mother’s still-alive status. That instantly puts Lanier’s character in the position of lying to her husband, which means Diane remains a suspect in Phyllis’ supposed death.

Kyle’s argument with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) at Jabot was a symptom of the abundant dysfunction. Kyle is dealing with his mother’s dire legal situation while having to tolerate Summer’s insistence that Phyllis was killed by Diane.

Summer must mask the incredible revelation about her mother while reevaluating her approach to Diane’s predicament. Kyle will detect Summer turning too hard away from condemning Diane.
