When the news broke that the handsome young singer from Louisiana had been arrested, he cooperated with the Louisiana State University Police Department. As he was homespun gold with his fans, the news naturally shocked a lot of people. Officially, he faced quite serious wire or electronic charges. At the time, fans found out that potentially, he could have gone to prison for up to 10 years, and/or faced a hefty fine.
The Katy Perry favorite on American Idol naturally went very quiet on social media for a while. However, he did reappear and many people were taken aback by his appearance. No longer clean-shaven, clean-cut, and looking like the local choir boy, he sported lots of facial hair and had become thinner. However, that didn’t stop him from making music.

Since his arrest and the lack of media coverage, Laine seems to have stalled with about half a million Instagram followers. Evidently, he still sings music and last week, he posted up a song. He played it played as he sat outside looking every inch the country boy. Actually, his loyal fans love him. One of them said in the comments, “I’ve missed you Laine…It’s time to Party with a Hardy…Get back in the saddle and make music..I hope you go on tour soon.”
Things changed for the American Idol winner, and in October last year, Taste of Country reported that he “parted ways with his record label, Disney Music Group, as well as 19 Entertainment.” At the time, he said that he would take his career “in a new direction.” The troubles. is, he might be tied up for a bit as recent news arrived that he is busy trying to avoid jail time.

American Idol fans who hope for lots of new music from Laine might have to wait a bit. According to Music Mayhem Magazine, “Laine Hardy began the pre-trial diversion program in March 2023.” As it could take up to six months for him to complete the program, he’s not sitting at home all day playing his guitar.

Apparently, there are no specifics on what he has to do, but the programs are known to include things like “community service.” Additionally, he might be attending an anger management course. Laine might get a second chance at life with a clean record if he completes the course. Bear in mind, he was just shy of 20 years old when he ran into trouble with the law.
