General Hospital spoilers reveal Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will go to great lengths to protect the people he loves — even if it means putting his own happiness on the line. When Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) warned her best gal pal, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros, that she didn’t know what she was getting herself into, she meant it. Nina may not have understood those words and taken them to heart then, but she will soon. Sonny will always choose Carly Spencer (Laura Wright); Ava made that abundantly clear. Sonny won’t hesitate to hold his ground when he learns that Nina crossed his family. Family comes first, and Carly will always be Sonny’s family. Didn’t Nina know that by now?

Sonny has never been one to shy away from tough situations — as a mobster, he’s had to make some hard calls for the safety of his family. However, when his marriage to Carly crashed and burned, and he found himself back in Nina’s arms, things took a turn for the worse. Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) felt deeply betrayed by his father and turned his back on him — launching a massive plan to take his dad down and put him behind bars for the rest of his life.
Yet, despite it all, Sonny knows that family always comes first. Now that Carly has found herself in trouble, Sonny’s loyalty will be tested once again, but he won’t let her down. He’ll be there for her, because that’s what family does. As for Nina? Well, let’s just say, Sonny won’t be shedding any tears over her departure.

When Nina first came back from Nixon Falls and it was revealed that her ‘Mike’ was actually Sonny, Ava warned her then that she had no idea what she was biting off. A relationship with Mike would not work in Port Charles. Mike was gone. This guy — Sonny — was nothing like the person Nina had described to her bestie. Ava has stayed close by and been a source of support for Nina throughout it all, and it’s a good thing. She’s going to need someone in her corner when Sonny finds out the truth about who Nina really is. She’s no ‘Mike,’ either.
