The Young and the Restless spoilers, news, and updates tease that Peter Bergman has something to say about the reel they submitted for the Emmys.
Peter Bergman plays Jack Abbott in The Young and the Restless and he was recently nominated for the 24th Daytime Emmy Awards for the category of Lead Actor. If he wins this year, this could be his fourth lead actor win. It has been 20 years since his last win.
The Emmys will be held on June 16 in Los Angeles. It will be aired live and will be streamed on Paramount+.
When he was interviewed to learn more about the submitted reel, he said that there were a lot of emotions and conflicts in each storyline of Jack. This allowed him to go deeper with his character.
He said that in his scenes with Diane (played by Susan Walters), you could see that apart from being angry, he was also in pain, which really means that his portrayal is not just black and white. In his words, there was a complexity to it. There were depths in portraying Jack, which is probably the reason why he was nominated.
He also credited Susan Walters for being good in their scenes, which also made him look good. Sometimes, the great actor in you is often brought out by great actors as well. Directors are also sometimes a factor or even the overall production. It is great that Peter also gives credit to his co-workers.
In his scene with Phyllis (played by Michelle Stafford), he said that his character was not having it with the ex-wife. He detailed that Phyllis started the commotion and Jack wasn’t having it. It brings out the history between the two. And how there is still some tension there. They really used good reels for Peter and it probably impressed the committee, hence, his nomination.

Y&R isn’t the first soap opera for Peter. He also had a role in All My Children as Dr. Cliff Warner. He played the role from 1979 to 1989 and then he was fired. And then he got the Y&R gig the same year he left All My Children.

He also appeared as a guest in other series including Kojak, The 5 Mrs. Buchanas, and The Nanny. He also appeared as Jack Abbott in the sister series of Y&R – The Bold and the Beautiful.
