Last year, Reality Steve leaked that Brandon had given his rose to Serene Russell. You might remember her from Clayton Echard’s season on The Bachelor. Anyway, Brandon gave her a Neil Lane ring on the island and things seemed certain to work out. In fact, the news was greeted with a lot of enthusiasm by ABC fans. A popular coupling was celebrated on social media.

Bachelor In Paradise star Brandon was previously on Michelle Young’s season of the Bachelorette but he failed with her. When he went to the island, Brandon and Serene seemed to be perfectly matched. So much so, that when they opted to stay together, Jesse Palmer offered to help them tie the knot on the spot. Fortunately, they’d decided to wait, because they just ended their engagement.

The announcement that they called off their engagement arrived via Brandon’s own Instagram account. Posting a nice photo on May 8, he said I’m his caption, “After many months, today we have ultimately decided to end our engagement.” Until now, they had apparently faced some challenges and tried to work on them. It seems that what folks didn’t see were cracks appearing.

The Bachelor In Paradise star said, “We have tried to work privately on our relationship which has been incredibly challenging in the public eye. This has been immensely hard to accept and painful, as there is a lot of love between the two of us.” Sadly, he wrote, “We are deeply hurting and can only ask that there be no hate.” It looks like the split might be permanent. He ended by saying, “The best path for us at this time is to try and move forward and heal from this as individuals.”

Bachelor In Paradise fans and colleagues of the ABC franchise were taken by surprise and they felt sad. Clayton Ecvhard wrote, “Y’all both are incredible people and I hope you are able to find peace and clarity during this time. Here for you both 🙏.”
