The Children Of Meghan Markle Finally Get Royal Titles

Archie and Lilibat, the children of  Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finally received their royal titles. Now, the children appear on the Royal Family website as a prince and princess. Previously, they were addressed as Master and Miss. Although their dad is no longer a working royal, the children remain at sixth and seventh in line to the throne. Obviously, this came about when their grandfather, King Charles became monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth.

Meghan Markle And Harry’s Titles Questioned

Not surprisingly, a lot of people even questioned the fact that the titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were retained by the couple who, in January 2020, announced that they had chosen to
step down as senior Royals. In fact, they chose to live in the USA which makes it of concern to loyal royal family watchers.

Meghan Markle and Harry became parents to Archie in May 2019. Previously Prince Harry admitted that he wanted more children. Recall, when the announcement arrived that they chose to step down there was much speculation as to whether there was already a baby on the way. Anyway, Lilibet arrived in June 2021 after the family moved to the USA.

Meghan Markle’s Daughter Christened Using Her Title

The BBC News reported that the christening of Lilibet took place a week ago, at the California
home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Evidently, no members of the Royal Family attended the event. It was on this occasion that the title of Princess was publicly used for the first time.

Apparently, the couple wants the children, when they get older, to decide for themselves whether to use their titles or not. But it seems, for now, that choice has already been made. They are, however, unable to use HRH as their right to do so was removed when their father stepped down as a working royal.

The Benefits Of The Titles

The Telegraph reported that when Meghan Markle appeared in the interview with Oprah Winfrey “Meghan did not seem entirely sold on the benefits of being a prince or princess.” Meanwhile, The Express cited royal author and historian Dr. Tessa Dunlop. He said that “Meghan and
Harry never wanted to “cut free” of the Royal Family, otherwise they would have relinquished their Sussex dukedom”.

A further comment from the doctor noted, “[if] we are in any doubt, Harry has made his recent millions trading off his royal heritage. No wonder he is keeping his children’s options open.”

What do you think regarding the titles? Meghan and Harry chose to walk away from the Royal Family. They have since then made very public comments and appearances against “The Firm” but at the same time, still want to be connected. Should they have relinquished all claims to the
throne?
